Keloid Scar Treatment
Keloid Scar Treatment
At Paad Wellness Skin Laser Clinic in Vancouver, our Keloid and Scar Treatment goes beyond just clearing away scarring – it unveils clear, glowing skin. The skin, a remarkable organ, possesses the inherent capability to protect, shield, and heal. Following an injury, scars naturally form as part of the healing process. Scars and keloids are common occurrence, with most individuals having at least one on their body.
How do Keloids form?
Keloid scars result from overgrowths of tissue where excessive collagen has been produced during the healing process. Due to the aggressive healing, this scar type tends to continue growing, even after the wound has healed. Keloid scars can extend beyond the original injury and may, over time, affect mobility, especially occurring more commonly in ethnic skin.
Treatment
Regenlite Laser offers two distinct treatment modes:
- Vascular Mode: The excessive vasculature in keloids both feeds the scar and contributes to its red, inflammatory appearance. In its Vascular setting, Regenlite Laser functions similarly to a typical Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL). With its specific wavelength (585nm-595nm), it targets and destroys the excessive vasculature while preserving other elements of normal tissue. This halts the formation and growth of keloids, with better results observed in newer scars or keloids that are still red or pink. For older scars, we might perform some procedures such as Cryotherapy or Microneedling first to push the scar more to the inflammatory phase; then we will treat the keloid or scar by using PDL.
- Rejuvenating Mode: For hypotrophic scars, scars along the suture line, or stretch marks, Regenlite can reactivate collagen synthesis beneath the depressed skin, creating a smoother and more consistent appearance. This treatment method provides a safe and effective approach that stands out in its ability to address scar sites.
